The Jihad Watch website had a great article called “Those evil Zionists: Israeli hospital treats Gazans.” Jihad Watch is a great site. I check it daily for perspective – a much needed global perspective – that most Americans ignore. The article above though is particularly poignant, because it highlights one of the messages in Brigitte Gabriel’s first book “Because They Hate.” You can also get it from the King County Library.
I’m not giving away too much of Gabriel’s gripping story when I tell you that one of her fears was how her mother would be treated by the Israelies as her mom crossed the border from Lebanon for much needed care. Her Muslim and Christian neighbors had always told her that those eeeeevil Jews in Israel torture and rape innocent Lebanese that happen to cross over. What she actually found was a deep level of caring from the doctors and staff, even for those bent on killing them.
This kind of respect for human life is at the core of Israeli life – and the Judeo Christian values that drives their citizens to respect life – period. It is the antithesis to the Muslim mindset pervasive in the last 40 years that it is okay to advance Islam at any cost. Indeed the Qur’an states lying and deception are okay, and Mohammed openly advocates murder for anyone who disagrees with the way of Islam, and most recently Osama Bin Laden has signed on with the mindset that there is no such thing as collateral damage: the idea that killing Muslims accidentally in the grand worldwide Jihad against unbelievers is a bad thing. And understand this: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also believes that when you drop a nuke on a city, all the Muslims therein (including “innocents”) are going to heaven, and the kaffur’s get their just rewards in hell. Not to mention that would hasten the much anticipated return of the Mahdi. Do you get it yet? This kind of Armageddon is something they long for. “Innocent” Muslims are of no consequence whatsoever. They’re probably the “peaceful” ones that live in your neighborhood.
Contrast that kind of obsession with death with the Israeli (and Christian) obsession oflife. One Israeli doctor quoted in the article said,
“It might seem completely absurd,” Lobel said. “But we have the privilege to be doctors. Our medical ethics do not distinguish between patients. We treat whoever needs to be treated.”
Contrast once more to the Gaza (most likely Muslim) woman who said that her 2-year-old daughter was receiving the best medical treatment in Israel, yet she refused to have her name in the article or her picture taken, because of fear of reprisal fromPalestinians. Her kinsmen would harm her for taking her daughter to “the enemy” where she will get top-notch treatment. Danged if ya do, danged if ya don’t. Such is the whacko mindset that hundreds millions of Islamic radicals are rabid about enforcing.
