capt58189756f3dc4573afb7d7b685afc6d1missionary_shooting_codz104.jpgARVADA, Colo. – A gunman walked into a training center dormitory for young Christian missionaries early Sunday and opened fire, killing two of the center’s staff members and wounding two others. No arrests had been made by late morning.

The shooting happened at about 12:30 a.m. at the Youth With a Mission center, police spokeswoman Susan Medina said. About 45 people were evacuated from the dormitory in this Denver suburb and moved to an undisclosed location.

A man and a woman were killed and two men were wounded, Medina said.

All four victims were staff members, said Paul Filidis, a Colorado Springs-based spokesman with Youth With a Mission.

071126hutchison.jpgAccording to intellectual historian Richard Weaver (1910–1963), a republic devoted to freedom and order requires a rational citizenry who will hearken to the voice of a man of principle. In this essay, we shall define what it means to be a man of principle. Then we shall review the presidential candidates to see if any of them stand out from the crowd according to these principles.

Politics is a moral enterprise

Aristotle defined politics as a moral enterprise. Free citizens deliberate the question “How ought we to order our life together?” Political discussions are full of words like “ought,” “should,” “fairness,” “equity,” and “justice.” Aristotle believed in “moral universals” — that is to say, certain things are universally right and wrong in all human societies. Therefore, he did not hesitate to use the word “ought.”

The leadership of a man of principle is needed when the citizens of a republic are asking the question: “How ought we order our life together?” (See Aristotle’s Nichomachean Ethics and Politics. Also see Richard John Neuhaus’ essay “Politics and Bioethics,” First Things, November 2007)

NC Sez:  RINOs are dangerous for the Republican party,  and we will expose them where ever we see these compromisers.  RINOs are power seekers,  and are people who are scared to take a stand on what they truly believe for fear they won’t be accepted and will consequently lose their power.  We see Mike Huckabee as a compromising RINO and not fit to lead this wonderful country!

MORE REASONS TO BEWARE OF MIKE HUCKABEE

by Pastor Chuck Baldwin

Many Christian conservatives see Mike Huckabee as the best candidate to deliver the GOP from an impending pro-abortion presidential nomination of either Rudy Giuliani or Mitt Romney. Huckabee is doing especially well in Iowa, particularly among evangelicals. Is Mike Huckabee worthy of this support, however? The facts say no.

I have already attempted to warn my evangelical brethren as to the dangers of supporting Mike Huckabee. See here. However, that first column was just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Here are more reasons to beware of Mike Huckabee.

Robert Novak recently wrote a column about Mike Huckabee entitled, “The False Conservative.” In the column he said, “Huckabee is campaigning as a conservative, but serious Republicans know that he is a high-tax, protectionist, big-government advocate of a strong hand in the Oval Office directing the lives of Americans.”

Novak also said, “There is no doubt about Huckabee’s record during a decade in Little Rock as governor. . . He increased the Arkansas tax burden by 47 percent, boosting the levies on gasoline and cigarettes.”

Novak continued saying, “Quin Hillyer, a former Arkansas journalist writing in the conservative American Spectator, called Huckabee ‘a guy with a thin skin, a nasty vindictive streak.’ Huckabee’s retort was to attack Hillyer’s journalistic procedures, fitting a mean-spirited image when he responds to conservative criticism.”

 Hat Tip Patriot Post

topnews.jpg In this era of overblown political correctness, we often hear tales of Thanksgiving that stray far afield from the truth. Contemporary textbook narratives of the first American harvest celebration portray the Pilgrim colonists as having given thanks to their Indian neighbors for teaching them how to survive in a strange new world. This, of course, is in stark contrast to the historical record, in which the colonists gave thanks to God Almighty, the Provider of their blessings.

The “First Thanksgiving” is usually depicted as the Pilgrims’ three-day feast in early November 1621. The Pilgrims, Calvinist Protestants who rejected the institutional Church of England, believed that the worship of God must originate freely in the individual soul, under no coercion. The Pilgrims left Plymouth, England, on 6 September 1620, sailing to the New World on the promise of opportunity for religious and civil liberty.

For almost three months, 102 seafarers braved the brutal elements, arriving off what is now the Massachusetts coast. On 11 December, before disembarking at Plymouth Rock, the voyagers signed the Mayflower Compact, America’s original document of civil government predicated on principles of self-government. While still anchored at Provincetown harbor, Pastor John Robinson counseled, “You are become a body politic… and are to have only them for your… governors which yourselves shall make choice of.” Governor William Bradford described the Mayflower Compact as “a combination… that when they came a shore they would use their owne libertie; for none had power to command them…” Continue reading

Zechariah’s warning to Bush and Condi

cartoon249why.jpg

by Hal Lindsey

The Palestinians and Israelis are scheduled to meet at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., this November. This major “peace summit” is the brainchild of the Bush administration and is under the supervision of U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.Though most of the world – especially the Arab world – seems dubious about the summit’s prospects for success, the United States appears bent on forcing some sort of “peace” upon that troubled region. To do so, Secretary Rice is pressuring Israel to drop all of its redline demands. Redlines are the points that cannot be conceded.

Both sides have redlines. Both sides have points they will not give up, boundaries they will not cross. But the State Department is pressuring Israel to drop all of its redline conditions. For the first time, the division of Jerusalem is on the table. Since 1967, Israel had steadfastly claimed a united Jerusalem as “its eternal capital, never to be divided again.

I will never forget when Gen. Moshe Dayan first stood before the Western Wall after the amazing six-day victory in June of 1967. He dramatically declared, “We have returned to all that is holy in our land. We have returned never to be parted from it again.”

Evidently, to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, “eternal” and “never” means about 40 years. According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the Palestinians are pressuring Secretary Rice to guarantee that Israel will relinquish sovereignty over the Temple Mount.
